The Norwegian official made the remarks in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Alireza Rafiepour held on the sidelines of 2019 OIE Global Conference on Aquatic Animal Health.

The event was held in Santiago, Chile on April 2-4.

Rafiepour appreciated Norwegian Veterinary Association for holding training courses on fish farming and diagnosing fish disease in Iran.

He also called for more cooperation between Iran and Norway in developing fish farming up to 300,000 tons.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian official expressed his willingness for more cooperation with Iran in hygienic, diagnosis, monitoring, equipment and facilities fields.

In the meantime, thanks to cooperation between Iran and Turkey in veterinary field and also the agreements and hygienic protocols between two countries, Rafiepour held meeting with Turkish officials.

Fish farming involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures such as fish ponds, usually for food. It is the principal form of aquaculture, while other methods may fall under mariculture.
